This is a big lake — long, deep and quiet — with three small villages along its shore: Baysville at the south end, Dorset on the north shore, and Dwight to the east. Each one has a store, a dock and a pace of its own, and each reads differently from the water. The drives are longer out here and the lots are bigger, and the lake itself is the point: deep water, big-sky evenings, and cottages that sit well apart from each other.
Buyers who land on Lake of Bays tend to stay. It is further from the highway than the Big Three lakes, and quieter for it. If you want room — room on the water, room on the land, and room from the neighbours — talk it through with Andrew before you write an offer. He will tell you which bays hold their value and which roads surprise people in the spring.
